REVUE Besides being a reviewer I also write children's books. Illustrations is a BIG part in these books. I was happy to have a chance to review Street Art Doodle Book and perhaps get some new ideas for expression. The book is full of many different doodles, some funny, some strange, but all coming from the mind of creativity.
I took this book and sat down with my eleven year old granddaughter and together we began a really fun adventure with it. It is a book written by street artists. I found that there were no instructions in this book. None of the norm, like stay in the lines when you color, only draw a face a certain way, blah, blah, blah.
NO! Instead the author encourages the user to go wild, if you will. Let your creativity free and just enjoy the act of expression. Do you want to color ourside the lines, do it? Do you have an idea of your own to do on a certain page? Do it. What do you see on each page? What would be fun for you to do?
We had a great time and I was really surprised at the talent my granddaughter showed. Perhaps I have a new illustrator in the making! I think young and old would enjoy this book if they are able to let themselves go. I know we are.
